Resource recovery
In many regions worldwide, the resources in urine and faeces are not recovered. Fertilizers are synthetically produced in high energy-consuming plants and then transported around the world, which also requires much energy consumption. The nutrients from fertilizers enter the food chain and are excreted by humans. Too much nutrient emissions into the environment can lead to environmental and health hazards. The Blue Diversion Toilet is a sustainable solution: it recovers resources from urine and recycles them to be used as fertilizer.
